SAFETY & HEALTH POLICY

Black & Veatch places the highest importance on the safety and health of our professionals, subcontractors, and clients. Black & Veatch is committed to providing a work environment where safety and health are preplanned into every task with a mindset that every injury is preventable. It is our goal to provide a place of employment where every professional is given the time, equipment and training necessary to perform their jobs without injury, and where supervisors and professionals alike view safety and health performance as the key element to a task being performed on-time and within budget.

As a result of the hard work and efforts put forth by Black & Veatch professionals worldwide, our projects have received recognition for safety and health excellence by government agencies and clients across the globe. Examples of these awards include:

Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA)
Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Awards
In the early 1980’s Black & Veatch partnered with OSHA on several projects to develop and refine the VPP process for construction. Since then Black & Veatch has partnered with OSHA on the federal and state OSHA levels so that Black & Veatch has earned 13 VPP certifications on projects from Florida to Hawaii. In 2004 Black & Veatch was asked by OSHA to be an administrator for their new VPP Pilot Program; VPP Challenge.

United Kingdom
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents
Black & Veatch has earned for eight years consecutively ROSPA awards at the silver and gold level. These awards have been given because of results on specific projects and for corporate initiatives such as the implementation of leading edge training programs.
