Black & Veatch appoints Managing Director for its GCC business

Senior utility executive Mazen A. Alami further strengthens Critical Human InfrastructureTM development capabilities

Dubai, UAE. (9 October 2012) – Black & Veatch has expanded the expertise offered to clients in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states with the appointment of Mazen A. Alami as regional Managing Director.

Mazen’s role, a new post, is central to developing Black & Veatch’s business in the GCC. He will work with clients in the region on energy and water issues.

Black & Veatch has been serving communities in the Middle East since the 1920s, undertaking projects that enhance quality of life: power generation to support economic development, and water and sanitation to improve health. The appointment of Mazen enhances the company’s ability to further the development of Critical Human InfrastructureTM in the region.

“Understanding client needs and preferred delivery models is a critical component of our GCC business,” said Len Rodman, Chairman, President and CEO for Black & Veatch. “Having held senior roles with many of the region’s leading utility companies and suppliers, Mazen is excellently positioned to develop our working relationships even further.”

Black & Veatch’s clients and partners will be able to draw upon experience Mazen has gained as Chief Executive Officer for both Al Toukhi and General Electric, Saudi Arabia; and Vice President, Saudi Electricity Company. In addition to the business and technical experience gained during his career in the utility sector, Mazen’s understanding of the region’s critical issues will help ensure the services Black & Veatch offers, and the way they are delivered, are aligned with the needs of GCC clients.

“Earlier this year professionals from our Energy, Water and Construction & Procurement divisions relocated to a new operation in Dubai’s Internet City to create an even stronger local capability. The appointment of Mazen - who joins our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - further deepens Black & Veatch’s commitment to clients in the GCC states,” added Rodman.
