Golar Gimi FLNG

Black & Veatch Provides Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Support for Floating LNG Vessel

Black & Veatch provided engineering and procurement services to Golar LNG for the Golar Gimi FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas) topsides utilizing BV’s PRICO® liquefaction technology. The Golar Gimi FLNG facility is designed to provide 2.7 MTPA and utilizes a refurbished LNG carrier constructed by Seatrium Limited (formerly Keppel Shipyard Limited). BV designed, procured, and supported construction for the topsides gas pre-treatment and dehydration, four PRICO® liquefaction trains, LNG offloading, heavy hydrocarbon fractionation, boil-off gas recovery, fuel gas, and flare systems. The Golar Gimi FLNG sailed from Seatrium’s shipyard in Singapore in November 2023 and arrived at its final location offshore the maritime border of Senegal and Mauritania early in 2024. The Golar Gimi FLNG is stationed at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim gas field hub with LNG production starting in 2025.

The EPC-phase of the project started in December 2018 and successfully weathered the pandemic, developed new ways of working during remote work period, and operated on a 24-hour cycle utilizing our global offices. The BV commissioning team is supporting the start-up led by Golar LNG and will conduct performance tests to prove capacity. This FLNG joins her sister-ship, the Golar Hilli, which has successfully operated off the coast of Cameroon since 2018 and will be followed by the Golar MK II which was awarded to BV on September 17, 2024.
