‘IgniteX Climate Tech Accelerator’ looks to speed the development of decarbonization, sustainable technology innovations
Recognizing that the world is in climate crisis, global engineering leader Black & Veatch is looking for bold, committed partners to help accelerate the development of decarbonization solutions. It is against this backdrop that the company kicked off its IgniteX Climate Tech Accelerator, a 12-week virtual program that provides funding and support to startup companies on the cutting edge of climate technology.
Throughout the program, Black & Veatch will pair with scalable-technology companies, offering them opportunities for mentorship, access to the company’s vast network of subject matter experts, product testing, pitch development, investor introductions and up to $50,000 in funding. The application is now open and can be found on the IgniteX Climate Tech Accelerator website.

Desired topics of innovation include hydrogen, ammonia, carbon-neutral construction materials, consulting and road mapping, alternative fuels, carbon accounting and more.

The IgniteX program is the external branch of the company’s Growth Accelerator, which has internal and external programs to discover unique opportunities and drive their rapid, profitable growth. The IgniteX Climate Tech Accelerator joins the growth accelerator to support external entrepreneurial efforts toward engineering climate solutions in infrastructure.

The Climate Tech Accelerator marks Black & Veatch’s third annual IgniteX Challenge. Past challenges include the inaugural CleanTech Accelerator in 2019 and the COVID Response Accelerator in 2020. Since its creation, the IgniteX Challenge has received more than 400 applications, given $1 million in grants and in-kind services, and made 25 investments in startup companies.
