Improvements to the Sewerage Collection System in Kuwait

Black & Veatch and its local Kuwaiti Joint venture partner have addressed study, design and construction supervision for over 400 kilometres of sewers in part-residential, part-industrial areas of Kuwait City.

The works included CCTV of existing sewers, replacement, house connections and interconnections to existing sewerage areas. Routes of the new sewer networks were carefully selected to minimise disturbance to other underground services, and to avoid traffic disruption. Methods used to replace the existing sewer networks involved pipelaying in open trench excavation or trenchless/non-destructive methods of construction such as microtunneling.
