Asia Eyes Transmission Capacity Expansion
When expanding transmission systems, acquiring the land for new lines is often a prerequisite. As is the case in numerous countries, rights-of-way (ROW) in Southeast Asia are crowded.
The influx of renewable solutions – and the need to integrate them with conventional transmission infrastructure – has changed the dynamics of the power market and introduced new opportunities around offshore wind. Transmission upgrades with the first tranche of Offshore Wind projects have been relatively small thus far, but as the market continues to strengthen, expect to see an uptick in transmission upgrades to support for the next wave of development. This session will discuss the efforts which are underway to support integration of Offshore Wind power resulting from solicitations which are presently underway.
