Track Record of Gas, Fuels and Chemicals Solutions

For gas, fuels and chemicals clients in China, BV has completed more than 20 LNG production facilities, including one floating LNG (FLNG) project, and one floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project. We have also delivered technology packages for sulfur recovery units (SRU) and LNG Terminal studies for overseas projects, including providing technical support for the largest single train SRU and regasiﬁcation facility in China.

Project: Tibet YunGao Renewable Energy

Solar Development at High Altitude

Drawing on lessons learned and best practices from Black & Veatch’s global solar practice, as owner's engineer, we supported the development, contracting, and execution phases of a high quality 10 MW solar PV facility at very high altitude in the Chenguan District near Lhasa, in Tibet. The design incorporated features to enable efficient operation in this extreme environment while protecting critical equipment from large variations in temperature from summer to winter and other environmental hazards, such as dust and sand. The project helped establish a framework for the client for future project development and expansion.

Supporting Southeast Asia's Energy Transition

Through Black & Veatch's China export solutions, Black & Veatch has supported Chinese developers designing and building a range of infrastructure projects throughout the world. As owner's engineer for Dien Xanh Gia Lai Investment Energy Joint Stock Company’s 100 MW onshore wind farms in Ia Grai district of Gia Lai province, Vietnam, Black & Veatch provided project management, project control, design review, quality assurance, construction monitoring and commissioning support. The project is helping fulfill the growing demand for affordable, integrated and dispatchable renewable energy throughout Southeast Asia.

Project: Project Chilli FeedKind® Biotechnology Facility

First Commercial-Scale Animal Feed Production Facility

A consortium of Black & Veatch and Shanghai LBT Engineering and Technology Co. Ltd. (LBT) completed the full EPC scope for a first-of-a-kind commercial scale biotechnology facility in Chongqing, China. The facility will produce 20,000 tonnes per annum of FeedKind®, an alternative feed ingredient for the aquaculture and animal feed industry through the fermentation of methane. Production of the single-cell protein product with Calysta’s proprietary fermentation technology uses two fermenters, six centrifuges, an evaporator, and spray dryer.

The project was developed by Calysseo Chongqing Co Ltd., a joint venture between United States-head quartered Calysta and France/China-based Adisseo.

Project: Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Cogeneration Project

Delivering Reliable Power and Steam Under an Advanced Schedule

The combustion turbine combined cycle facility provides 600 MW of electricity to the Shanghai power grid while providing 1450 t/h steam to the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. Black & Veatch/GE Consortium served as EP contractor for Shanghai Cao Jing Co-Generation Co., Ltd. to provide complete engineering, procurement, and commissioning management services for the Power Island BOP for the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Cogeneration Project

Noteworthy was the team's ability to deliver the project to an accelerated schedule. The project substantially bettered the previous fastest schedule for placing a GE 9FA online after receipt at site (more than two months faster), and made up essentially all of an eight-month delay in getting the project approved.
