PFAS Practice Lead
Dr. Jeff Cornell is Black & Veatch’s PFAS Practice Lead, supporting clients and professional staff’s development and execution of cost-effective solutions related to any issues involving PFAS or emerging contaminants. Jeff is a retired U.S. Air Force environmental engineer who has spent his 36-year career studying and performing projects related to contaminated groundwater and soil, especially related to new technologies and emerging contaminants such as PFAS. Besides leading DoD and USAF’s development of a coordinated program to address emerging contaminants, Dr. Cornell has also served or is serving as a member of the SERDP/ESTCP Advisory Council, as an ex-officio member of the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council and as a member of the Society of American Military Engineers Environmental Community of Interest. Dr. Cornell’s involvement with PFAS began in 1992, when he managed the first large remediation project ever executed to respond to PFAS/AFFF contamination at Andrews AFB, MD. Recently, Dr. Cornell managed the principal technical support contract that the U.S. Air Force has used to respond to PFAS contamination world-wide.
